ATRI VISIONARIA: Cinque Artisti, Cinque Mondi
Sturm und Drang is a German expression often connected with some of the Romantic painters in the early 19th Century such as Casper David Friedrich. The literal translation of Strum und Drang is Storm and Stress but it would be better translated as Anxiety and Unease.
The paintings I am showing in this exhibition are those I made in 1984 and 1985 when I was interested in medieval art, so these 41 year ‘old’ paintings with themes of some of the 12 virtues and 12 vices are on 643 year old walls 500 metres from the cathedral with 575 year old frescos by Andrea de Litio
