40th Premio Sulmona

The 40th edition of the Sulmona International Contemporary Art Prize was held at the former Santa Chiara Convent (Polo Museale) in Sulmona.
I was invited to take part in the exhibition by the art critic Chiara Strozzieri who wrote:
Il soggetto del quadro esposto al XL Premio Sulmona dall’artista inglese Paul Critchley stimola una riflessione sulla scelta del punto di vista, che inevitabilmente condiziona la percezione della realtà e suggerisce attese e sentimenti nell’animo dello spettatore. Condividere la prospettiva dell’autore pùo essere una buona maniera per iniziare a godere di un’opera d’arte, ma è necessario avare abbastanza spazio per scatenare l’immaginazione e sviluppare la storia soltanto accennata nel quadro o nell’opera plastica.

The subject of the painting exhibited at the XL Sulmona Prize by British artist Paul Critchley stimulates a reflection on the choice of viewpoint, which inevitably conditions the perception of reality and suggests expectations and feelings in the viewer's soul. Sharing the author's perspective can be a good way to start enjoying a work of art, but it is necessary to have enough space to unleash the imagination and develop the story only hinted at in the painting or plastic work
