Alanica - Festival of Contemporary Art - Excursions to the Imaginary
On October 4 at 16:00 at the National Museum of North Ossetia-Alania, Gorky street, the opening ceremony of the final exhibition «Excursions to the Imaginary» of the XIV International Festival of Contemporary Art «Alanica» will take place.
In 2021, the festival was dedicated to the integration of contemporary art into the traditional environment and continued the «Modern Well-Timed» program launched at the festival in 2020, which was held in a virtual format and collected ideas for projects by foreign and Russian artists dedicated to 12 objects of cultural, historical and the natural heritage of Ossetia-Alania (alanicafest.art). These ideas were realized during the art-resident program «Alanica», which lasted until September, 25.
After a year of forced «virtuality» the festival returned to its «live» channel. The participating artists visited Vladikavkaz, worked on the implementation of their projects, took part in meetings with the audience in the artist's talk format.
Citizens and guests of Vladikavkaz were spectators and participants of performances that took place in city locations.
The large-scale final exhibition «Excursions to the Imaginary» will present projects created by the symposium artists - painting, video, photography, installations at two exhibition spaces in the city - in The North Caucasus branch of The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and The National Museum of The North Ossetia-Alania.
The exhibition will take place in The North Caucasus branch of The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, on Nikitina, 22, Vladikavkaz.
