The Mind Maze

diptych, oil on canvas on hardboard

172 x 46 cm closed, 172 x 80 cm open

The uncertainty we now face in this new world of isolation can provoke mental problems not just physical. We sit in our little cells and fill our heads with all sorts of ideas, some valid others perhaps paranoid fantasies. No longer can we trust the air we breath, what if we go outside, what will happen, how do we deal with the unknown, which way do we go? Our imaginations give us the freedom to dream but also for our fears to run amok with our minds. Uncertainty makes confusion, what was once a simple problem could become a never ending one. This maze is a metaphor for that confusion, how do we find our way now through all the uncertainty in life due to the Covid virus? We are wandering through that maze with just the white stick of the blind as a guide.
